“The mother tried to protect the children”/ Details from the tragedy with 3 victims in Shkodra, the father’s testimony is revealed

Other details have emerged from the tragic event of the previous day where a mother and her two children were burned inside an abandoned apartment in the village of Domen in Postriba, Shkodra.

Sources close to the investigation team say that the three bodies of the victims were found very close to each other, charred by the flames. At the moment the fire broke out, it is believed that the mother was protecting her children and did not manage to get out. The 1-year-old boy was found in his mother’s arms, while the other child was nearby.

As evidence in this event, which has so far been considered accidental, police and firefighters have also found a piece of residue from a small gas cylinder, petrogas, which has been seized as material evidence.

Along with the small canister, the investigation team also found the bed spring that was inside that house, while everything else was destroyed by the flames.

Meanwhile, outside the house were the bags with which the Çelaj family had gone to their old house.

This material evidence that has been found will be sent to Tirana for examination to obtain an answer that will serve this investigation.

The father of the children and the husband of the 24-year-old woman who was burned inside, stated that they also had a bottle of gasoline with them that they had taken to do some repairs and cleaning and that they needed it.

He stated that he was sitting at a market to buy some things for the family and while he was not there, the house caught fire, causing the mother and two minors to burn inside.

The main suspicion so far that the investigation team has is that the mother may have attempted to light the gas cylinder to cook and at that moment, as a result of the gas leak, there may have been an explosion. There is also the possibility that the two young children may have been asleep at the time the fire broke out.

The fact that no one else was there and that the house had no other residences nearby meant that the fire was not detected at the right time, causing the three victims to lose their lives.

The lack of timely notification and the rugged mountainous terrain were fatal in this serious incident.

The Çelaj family lived in Germany and were equipped with German documents and had arrived a few days ago for vacation.

They thought about going to the old apartment to clean it and stay there for a few hours, but it all turned into a tragedy that shocked the public.
