Journalist Basir Çollaku has commented on the protests that have been ongoing for 60 days in Tirana, describing them as a movement that, according to him, has exceeded all predictions and is changing the political climate in the country.
Invited to News24, Çollaku said that the protesters’ resistance has put the government under pressure, while adding that the majority is facing the fear of legal consequences. According to him, the protest will expand further and has given clear messages to both the government and the opposition.
The journalist also criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama’s reactions to recent developments, stating that he is at the end of his political mandate.
Çollaku added that, according to his assessment, the attitudes of international factors towards Rama have also changed in recent months and that the prime minister “is not finishing the year in office.”
“Not even the protesters would have thought it would go like this. The protest should have had reactions earlier. But the government is afraid of prison and life, they are trying to find a means of escape and the protesters have shown extraordinary resistance.”
There has never been such a protest. Revolution and peace may not go together, but continuity will bring the desired result. He was shown who Edi Rama is in the eyes of Albanians, the internationals saw it. There is something different this time. Every international who supports Rama is either corrupt or wants to destabilize Albania. What he says that he has 800 thousand supporters is a lie, 800 thousand to 1 million Albanians are in the square.
Protesters will increase in the coming days. The majority and the opposition have received messages about the work that has been done and what has not been done. For months, internationals have not spoken well of Rama anymore. Rama will not end the year as prime minister,” he said.
