MP Marjana Koçeku also had a response to the leader of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, who asked her to return the mandate she won under the leftist logo.
In an interview with “Shqipëria Live”, Koçeku said that she participated in the elections with her first and last name, despite being on the closed lists. She said that the campaign she conducted brought her the necessary votes to enter the Assembly and for this she swore an oath to the Constitution.
“I headed the closed list of Shkodra. I chose this system, regardless of whether I like it or not. The fact that I head the closed list of the SP does not oblige me to hand over my mandate. I swore an oath on the Constitution and this gives me the right to exercise my duty in the Assembly as a representative of the citizens. When I became part of the SP, I became part with my first and last name and I was an active part of the campaign where I sought votes for the SP.
The votes did not come only from the loyal electorate of the SP, but also from the gray or democratic electorate. So these votes give me the mandate. They can judge me for my further activity and they can judge me whether I am representing them or not. I am more than convinced that this is the right decision. I know that I will better represent the citizens this way. I announced the SP only through the status on social networks. This was my choice so as not to be influenced by any party,” she said.
