MP and former Foreign Minister, Elisa Spiropali, yesterday released another message with a strong political subtext addressed to Prime Minister Edi Rama, disguised behind an idyllic summer vacation postcard. While posting a photo of her daughter on social networks by the bank of a river to announce the start of August, Spiropali exploded with a philosophical phrase that is shaking the backstage of the majority: “Beautiful August! But in political circles and behind the scenes of the pink camp, this language of symbols is being interpreted as a direct call for the leader of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama, to cleanse the party’s ranks of what is being labeled as the “Balluku” virus. Specifically, the obstacle in the flow is interpreted as the toxic influence, internal clashes and scandals that have tarnished the image of the majority. Changing the flow means tactical moves, distancing from worn-out figures and the necessary dismissals to escape public pressure.
While the inevitable destination remains the complete self-purification of the Socialist Party and the preservation of the initial political vision. So this next blow comes at a very critical moment. After previous distancing and open criticism of the way hot files are being managed within the party, former Minister Spiropali is showing that she has no intention of turning back. There, the former Foreign Minister and former Speaker of Parliament used a retort with the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, to indirectly, but in quite harsh tones, attack her political rival, Belinda Balluku.
In her speech from the podium, Spiropali made it clear that she is not afraid of any orchestrated attack or blackmail behind her back. She warned that any “political scoundrel” or official who uses power for personal harm will be removed “like an appendix” from the system. Her statement was interpreted as a direct blow to the Balluk district, which is being investigated by SPAK for corruption and violations in tenders, demanding that the SP undergo deep reform, self-purification and distancing itself from this political line.
“Even before the protest, even during the protest, I have spoken about the reform of power, the need for correction, for self-purification, for self-regulation, for the administration, for the need to understand that this is a historical moment, I have spoken about more representation within parties, for changing the electoral system that has produced a banality today. People are unrepresented and are on the streets and there is neither ideological intoxication nor anything but the need for people to reveal themselves. I have spoken about state institutions that are instrumentalized against one another, with the great belief that we have the opportunity to change this. None of the attacks of any political dummy can stop me from this, because I have nothing to hide, no person who uses power because he thinks he can harm someone politically, humanly, family-wise, will succeed because it will be removed like an appendix”, declared Spiropali.
