Edi Rama’s problems are not over! The millionaire SP MP openly opposes the Prime Minister: We cannot allow him to

SP MP, Vullnet Sinaj, has opposed the proposal for the merger of the Municipality of Selenica with the Municipality of Vlora within the framework of the new administrative-territorial reform, demanding that Selenica continue to function as a separate unit.

In a public response, Sinaj argues that the Municipality of Selenica meets the criteria to maintain its current status, based on indicators of functionality and economic performance. According to him, decision-making should take into account not only technical analyses, but also the interests of citizens.

The socialist MP referred to the final report “Administrative-Territorial Reform 2.0”, where, according to him, Selenica presents positive results. He emphasized that the municipality ranks 29th nationally for functionality, with an index of 57.3, while in economic performance it is also in 29th place, with an index of 42.2, above the national average.

Sinaj rejected the argument that the lack of a large number of businesses should be a criterion for its merger with another municipality, pointing out the economic importance of the natural resources located in the territory of Selenica, including the bitumen mine and the Gorrisht oilfield.

According to the MP, the problem is not related to the lack of economic potential, but to the way in which revenues from natural resources are distributed. He called for an increase in the benefits returned to municipalities from mining royalties, arguing that this would increase the financial capacities of local units.

“The Municipality of Selenica meets all the criteria to continue to function successfully as a separate municipality. The Assembly must listen to the voice of the citizens and respect this reality,” said Sinaj.

The new administrative-territorial reform is expected to bring changes to the current division of municipalities, while the proposals have opened debate even within the majority.
