Besnik Çota, one of the most prominent football figures in Librazhd and one of the most respected names in the history of KF Sopot, passed away on Wednesday evening after a serious illness.
The former captain and former coach of Sopot passed away in a hospital in Tirana, where he was receiving medical treatment. He had been suffering from a serious illness for years and had undergone dialysis treatment, facing the challenge with strength and dignity.
The news of his passing has saddened family, friends, former teammates, fans and the entire sports community of Librazhd. Besnik Çota enjoyed special respect not only for his contribution to football, but also for his human values.
He is considered one of the best footballers Sopot has ever produced. In the 1990s, he distinguished himself as an organizing midfielder, standing out for his technique, vision of the game and ability to lead the team on the field.
As captain, Çota led Sopot in many important matches, while his performances made him one of the names that have left a mark in the history of football in Livorno.
Even after his football career ended, he remained close to the sport, dedicating himself to training. For many years, he managed the Sopot youth teams, and later took over the management of the first team, contributing to the formation of new generations of football players.
