A serious incident has shocked Turkey, where a 36-year-old man killed his 27-year-old wife and 56-year-old brother-in-law after suspecting that they were having an intimate relationship.
The double murder occurred around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, in the Yıldırım area of Bursa.
According to Turkish media, 36-year-old Ismail Matur initially shot his brother-in-law, Yavuz Yılmaz, eight times in the middle of the street, leaving him dead.
The perpetrator then returned to his apartment, where he shot and killed his wife, Canan, 27 years old.
Police arrived at the scene and arrested the 36-year-old, while the weapon suspected of being used in the crime was also found in the area.
After his arrest, during questioning by police, Matur allegedly stated that he believed his wife and brother-in-law were having an intimate relationship.
“It was a matter of honor to kill them,” he is said to have told officers after his arrest.
Turkish police have launched investigations to fully uncover the circumstances and suspected motive of the double murder.
