After meeting with the mayors of municipalities that are expected to merge with larger units, Prime Minister Rama had another confrontation yesterday with one of the “rebels” within the Socialist Party, the mayor of Selenica.
The fourth edition of “Vajza Fest” took place in the village of Vajza in Selenica, an activity that has now become a beautiful and important tradition for the area. A celebration that unites tradition, culture, art, sports and heritage, bringing to attention the values and wealth of this region.
In his speech, Mayor Nertil Bellaj said that in these four years the Municipality has done a lot of work, leaving it up to the Prime Minister to decide on the fate of this institution.
“Prime Minister, here we also have sea water, salt water. Nature has given us these. Just as Labëria has a famous and great history, we as a municipality have been trying for four years to make our municipality famous and great, taking the municipality to another level of mountain and river tourism. We have worked and will continue to work and then see how things will go,” said the mayor of Selenica, who has openly come out against the unification with Vlora.
After his speech, the prime minister responded, not without irony, focusing on the mayor’s speech about finding salt water in the mountain.
“I want to greet the Mayor, Nertil, and thank him for the information about the sea reaching the top of the mountain with salt water. I also want to greet the Minister of Local Government, Mr. Demo, who is present here to check how the municipality of Selenica is functioning,” said Rama.
A few days ago, the prime minister launched a round of consultations on the new territorial reform, which, according to the variant proposed by the Socialist Party, envisages reducing the number of municipalities from the current 61 to 46.
