Bad weather has hit the Denver metropolitan area in the US, where heavy rain and hail caused road flooding, blocked vehicles and forced emergency crews to intervene to rescue several people.

The storms hit Douglas and Arapahoe counties on Saturday afternoon, with some areas receiving up to 3 feet of snow. Snowplows were also used to clear and open roads.

According to local authorities, flash floods made several roads impassable, while emergency teams carried out nearly a dozen operations to rescue people trapped in vehicles

South Metro Fire Rescue also responded to two incidents at Chatfield State Park, where four people and a dog, who were on paddleboards, found themselves in difficulty after the wind picked up.

Authorities urged residents to exercise caution during bad weather and not attempt to drive on flooded roads, as the water level and speed may be greater than they appear.
