A man had a panic attack at a restaurant in Turkey after a piece of food got stuck in his throat while eating doner kebab. Fortunately, the restaurant owner’s quick intervention saved his life.
The incident took place in Reyhanlı, Hatay province, and was filmed by the restaurant’s security cameras.
In the footage released, the man is seen sitting at a table with his family. Suddenly, he begins to have difficulty breathing, as his wife and children try to help him.
The situation became critical, but the restaurant owner, Sami Sakin, immediately realized that the customer was choking and intervened by applying the Heimlich maneuver. After several attempts, Sakin managed to clear the airway and the man was able to breathe again.
According to Turkish media, the businessman had previously learned how to perform the Heimlich maneuver while he was in school.
“The Heimlich maneuver immediately came to mind. After the third or fourth attempt, I managed to clear his airway and he came back,” Sakin said of the intervention that saved his client’s life.
The incident fortunately ended without serious consequences, while security camera footage shows the tense moments of the intervention.
