“Mom, the void you left is inexplicable, I still can’t believe it. It seems like a nightmare to me.” These are the painful words of Maria Cosentino, the daughter of Ornella Forastefano, the 46-year-old who was found in critical condition outside the Trebisacce hospital in Italy and later died from her injuries in what is suspected to have been an attack.
Ornella Forastefano’s partner, a 42-year-old Albanian citizen, has been detained at the port of Bari, Italy, as he is suspected of preparing to leave for Albania.
In a long message posted on Facebook, the girl describes the pain of the sudden loss and the strong bond she had with her mother. “When that phone call came, I could imagine anything, but not never seeing you again,” Maria writes, showing that for her mother was not only her parent, but also her best friend.
Daughter’s letter to mother:
“I am strong, mom, but I still needed you, my mother, and not just my mom, but my best friend, that person who was always there when I had a problem, the shoulder I could lean on when I fell, and vice versa, you to me.”
