Italian authorities are investigating another suspicious episode near the Parma prison, after the discovery of means that could have been prepared to enable the escape of people serving sentences in this institution.
The discovery was made on the morning of August 9th on the outer perimeter of the prison, in the part that extends towards Mantova Street and near the area of Burla Street.
Among the items found was a rope equipped with a hook, which investigators suspect could have been used to climb or cross the institution’s perimeter wall. Other materials were also found in the area and are being analyzed by authorities.

The case has raised alarm as it is not the first time that such tools have been discovered near the Parma prison. A similar episode was recorded on July 2, when items suspected of being used to carry out an escape plan were found outside the structure.
The similarities between the two cases have led investigators to consider the possibility that the same people are behind them.

According to Italian media reports, suspicions have focused on a group of people of Albanian origin. They are suspected of organizing a way from outside the prison to help some convicts overcome security measures and leave the institution.
Investigations are ongoing to determine which prisoners the plan may have been prepared for, as well as to identify the people who placed the devices near the prison perimeter. Authorities are also verifying possible links between the August 9 episode and the one recorded in early July.
