During August, I don’t conduct political polls, because there is no demand for them. But usually in August, I go back to the polls I conducted during the previous season, to make a statistical summary of them. This August, I made such a summary as well.
Analyzing all the polls of the last 12 months, I found that approximately 800 thousand voters (out of 1.9 million within Albania) would not vote at all today, if parliamentary elections were held. About 700 thousand would vote for the SP, about 300 thousand for the DP-ASHM, and about 100 thousand for other existing parties (see the graph below).
When I discussed these figures with acquaintances who regularly vote for the SP, they were surprised that the SP does not have its usual 800 thousand votes today. When I discussed them with acquaintances who regularly vote for the DP, they were surprised why the DP-ASHM has fallen so low.
When I discussed it with acquaintances who voted for other parties last year, they were surprised that they haven’t grown. And when I discussed it with acquaintances who didn’t vote at all last year, they were surprised that there are so many voters still willing to vote for existing parties…
In all of the above cases, my response was that the radiologist simply takes the X-ray, and patients usually don’t like the results.
