New details have emerged from the serious incident that occurred in Ksamil, where 20-year-old Frenchman Miguel Mendes lost his life. The young man was found lifeless at around 05:15 on a beach lounger, near a bar. Police have identified the suspected perpetrator as 29-year-old Sokrat Vata, a resident of Has, who fled the scene and is still being sought.
According to sources, an examination of the body at the Saranda morgue revealed that the 20-year-old had suffered several stab wounds to the back and chest. Due to the injuries sustained, death is suspected to have been instantaneous.
It is learned that Miguel Mendes had come to Ksamil together with a group of French tourists to spend their holidays in southern Albania.
Meanwhile, 29-year-old Sokrat Vata, identified by the police as the suspected perpetrator, was employed as a lifeguard at the “Pronciopotes” hotel. He left immediately after the incident and the police continue to search for his location and capture.
According to preliminary investigation data, the incident is suspected to have started after a conflict over weak motives, while sources suggest that a woman may have been at the center of the conflict. This element remains to be verified by investigators.
The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, is continuing its work to fully clarify the circumstances and legally document the incident. Vata continues to be wanted by the police.
