A serious incident occurred on June 10, 2026 in Durrës, after at 03:00 in the morning, citizen EL, father of two children, massacred his ex-wife, Er… L, with a bread knife, while she was staying in a rented apartment in the former swamp area in Durrës.
The woman was hospitalized in a serious condition at the Military Hospital, while the man was arrested after 1 month by the Durrës police. The court has ordered the security measure “Arrest in prison” against him for the charge of “Murder due to family relations” which remains in the attempted stage.
The couple had been divorced for about a year and were living apart from each other. But the conflicts between them had worsened because the husband was responsible for raising the two children, while the wife lived alone in a rented house.
According to the husband’s testimony, during this time the wife had also developed an intimate relationship with her boss, which further irritated him.
When asked about the circumstances of the incident, the man admitted to the serious crime, telling the police: “…I hit her with a bread knife after she told me she had been having an affair with the boss where she works…”.
During the court hearing to determine the security measure, the arrested man stated that:
“…we had been separated for about a year. And I was keeping the children and he had not come to meet them. I had taken the children to the beach and told the children to meet their mother. On the day the incident happened, he told me he was going to work and had turned off his phone. When I told him where you were, he said: “…I won’t hold you accountable…”. When he comes home at 11:00, I tell him to go to your house and I had had a little drink. We argued and I don’t know how it happened because I was drunk. I don’t remember if I stabbed him. For me, “house arrest” would be better than keeping the children with the work I do in construction…”.
But this claim has been dismissed by the prosecutor in the case, who has asked the judge, Ervin Sulaj, to assign the security measure “prison arrest” to the arrested person, as he was recently convicted of “domestic violence” against his wife…
Among other things, the prosecutor read the testimony of the woman, who from the premises of the Military Hospital where she was located stated that: “…that her ex-husband was near the apartment in a vehicle that at 23:30 and around 03:00 went to the apartment and hit her, telling her that he had come to kill her…”.
Her testimony did not last long, as it was interrupted due to her serious health condition. Meanwhile, the Durrës police, regarding this serious incident, have also questioned the two neighbors of the injured woman. One stated that:
“…they heard that at around 03:00, help was being sought from the tenant who had been stabbed and was bleeding and was on the first floor of the apartment, covered in blood…”.
The same statements were made by BH, the tenant of the first floor in the 3-story apartment of citizen FB, who stated that he saw the woman, who lives one floor above him, all covered in blood.
Given these conditions, the Durrës court a few days ago imposed the security measure “Arrest in prison” for the man who, on June 10, 2026, attempted to kill his wife by stabbing her several times.
