The mother of the 45-year-old Albanian, Julieta Obzova, who was killed in the early hours of Sunday (August 23) in Nea Smyrni, Athens, Greece, is in shock. She learned of her daughter’s death from her other daughter shortly after the incident.
“I don’t know anything. She didn’t tell me anything,” the victim’s mother told reporters, with tears in her eyes. She said her daughter had not told her about any love affair and that she had separated from her ex-husband a long time ago.
The 48-year-old waited for him in the car.
According to new investigation data, the 48-year-old of Albanian origin, identified as Altin Allmuça, is suspected of having set up an ambush in his vehicle, near the building on “Grigoriu Kydonion” street, where the 45-year-old lived with her 16-year-old daughter.
When he saw the woman leaving the building, he allegedly got out of the vehicle, approached her and shot her. The 45-year-old woman was killed at the entrance to the building.
Shortly afterwards, according to Greek authorities, the 48-year-old used the same weapon to shoot himself in the head. The pistol was found near his body.
Investigators are trying to determine how long the 48-year-old had waited outside the building, whether he knew in advance where the woman was and what had happened between them.
A complaint made in 2024 is being investigated
Another element being examined by the authorities is a complaint made by the 45-year-old in July 2024 at an Athens police station.
She had reported that her ex-partner had not returned a motorbike to her after the breakup. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the person against whom the complaint was made was the 48-year-old man suspected of the murder.
Authorities are also investigating the 48-year-old’s social media posts, where he appeared in photos posing with a gun. Investigators are verifying whether the weapon shown in these photos has any connection to the pistol found at the scene.
Testimonies
Residents of the area testified that they heard gunshots around 5:30 in the morning.
One resident said she heard three gunshots, while another described them as three very loud noises, several seconds apart.
A little later, residents also heard police sirens.
