The Kremlin reacted to news that Britain would provide Kiev with the information necessary for the production of long-range SCALP missiles, stating that with this action, London is endangering peace and threatened to destroy the factories that produce them.
The warning came as British Prime Minister Andy Burnham pledged, during a visit to Kiev, to continue military support for Ukraine. Asked about the SCALP production plans, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not hide his anger.
Britain is regularly adding fuel to the fire and is systematically and persistently devising schemes to hinder even the slightest progress in the peace process. Our armed forces are acting accordingly, gathering relevant information to identify the places where such missiles and other military equipment are manufactured, and taking measures to destroy these facilities.
The SCALP missile is a long-range cruise missile capable of hitting targets at a distance of about 250 kilometers. France and Britain have supplied such weapons to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale offensive in 2022, but Kiev has yet to produce them domestically.
