TIRANA – The new vehicle used by Prime Minister Edi Rama was not financed by the state budget, but was rented and the bill is covered by the Socialist Party. This was the official position of the government, announced after the next meeting of the Executive.
The issue was addressed by the Minister of State for Parliamentary Relations, Erjona Ismaili, who responded to media inquiries regarding the ownership and cost of the new official vehicle. According to her, the decision to transfer the rental costs to the party budget comes as the vehicle is used in parallel for both the Prime Minister’s institutional agenda and his political commitments.
“The prime minister’s car is rented, paid for from the Socialist Party budget,” Ismaili declared during her statement.
In addition to the financial aspect, the government has emphasized that the choice of the vehicle was also guided by security criteria. According to the authorities, the new model was selected in full compliance with the standards and requirements set by the Republic Guard for the protection of high-ranking state figures.
Technical details and cost of the vehicle The car, which bears the license plate AC 753 ZN, belongs to the latest generation Mercedes-Benz model, specifically the S 350 d 4MATIC version. From the verifications carried out in the official catalogs of the German manufacturer, this model has been released for order at the end of January 2026.
The official base price in the German market for this version starts at 121,356.20 euros (including 19% VAT, not including additional shipping and delivery costs). The model represents the German manufacturer’s line of luxury and technological vehicles, which traditionally serves as a showcase for the brand’s innovation.
