Alban Xhelili, the former Socialist Party MP for the Durrës region, has been appointed head of the Albanian Post branch in Durrës. He is expected to be officially introduced to the staff in Durrës.

Xhelili’s appointment as branch director comes after a turbulent period for the institution. The Durrës Post Office branch was recently embroiled in a financial scandal, with two former branch and finance directors arrested on charges of abuse and theft of funds.
His appointment is seen as a move to restore normality, financial control and citizen trust in postal services in Durrës, Shijak and Krujë.
