The murder of Franz Konomi, his son: They wanted to kill me twice too

In the column “See you in Court” with lawyer Eni Çobani, one of the most talked about events, the murder of Fran Konomi, returns to the public’s attention. After many years, his family members, his son John and his wife Rovena, speak for the first time.

Johnny, through tears and strong emotions, says that he has been living with the grief of his father’s murder for 17 years, adding that he himself has been targeted by criminal groups, where he has been assassinated twice.

Johnny: I’m not just coming out for my own rights, but also for my sister’s. I’m coming out for a cause that’s been going on for 17 years, a pain that no one knows about.

Ardit Gjebrea: What do you want to say?!

John: My father was killed 17 years ago. My father’s name was Franz Konomi, I am the son of Franz Konomi, who never had the right to tell myself that I was his blood. Why?! When they killed my father, they wanted to kill me too, twice. God knows that he protected me, there is no greater man than God. What is done is done only because God wants it, no other man has power in this world. I know that he wanted to protect me. He told me ‘don’t bother with these things, leave them behind’. I couldn’t handle that pain and I wanted to kill myself. I wanted to kill myself in all sorts of ways that you have no idea. But God didn’t want to take me, he didn’t want me. I wanted to leave, because I couldn’t handle it. I grew up with only women in my family, I didn’t have a man to tell me how to shave or behave.

Eni Çobani: He left very quickly.

Johnny: He left when I was 15, I only saw my dad for six weeks in the summer, nothing.

Franc Konomi was shot dead with 10 bullets on July 8, 2010, near the “New Market”. He was found murdered in his black Mercedes Benz car. Franc Konomi was the last person alive from that group of young people who were considered “strong” in Tirana and made the law in the 1990s.
