Writer and journalist Ben Blushi, through a status posted on social media, has reacted to the sentence handed down today by the Hague Tribunal to Hashim Thaçi, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for crimes against humanity.
Blushi, in his article, sees Thaçi’s conviction as deeper and connects it to global interests. While stating that the former Kosovo prime minister was convicted as a politician and not as a murderer, he wrote: “Suspicions, facts, evidence, witnesses, defense and international reports have no importance for these people. They do not make decisions based on evidence, but based on global interests.”
Blushi further links Thaçi’s fate to the failure of the liberal order and new wars in the world. He says that every time Russia advanced or Israel struck, the pressure on Thaçi increased to show the strength of international justice. According to the writer, Thaçi’s arrest began as a revenge by liberals, after his meeting with Trump in the White House.
Further in his article, he compared Thaçi to a bird put in a “cage” by internationals, to “scare away tigers and bears,” like Putin or Netanyahu.
“After being snatched from Donald Trump’s desk, Hashim was used to intimidate the two greatest enemies of liberals. Putin and Netanyahu.
It’s comical to think that putting a bird in a cage can scare away the tigers and bears of a wild forest, but hunters use the same tools against all animals. Cages,” writes Blushi .
While at the end of his article, he stated that Thaçi was sacrificed to keep the legal pillars of the Western liberal order standing, but he closes with the hope that “as a politician he was convicted and as a politician he will be released.”

WHY WAS HASHIMI CONDEMNED?
Unfortunately, I was convinced that Hashim Thaci and his friends would be punished.
Even Hashim himself knew it.
When I saw his stony face the moment the verdict was announced, I realized that he had no doubts either.
He would be punished as he was punished.
But while the sadness will never leave his eyes, Hashim has one consolation.
Hashim Thaci was not convicted as a murderer, but as a politician.
He was not convicted by the judges of The Hague, but by some people who were not there at all.
Suspicions, facts, evidence, witnesses, defense, and international reports have no importance to these people.
They do not make decisions based on evidence, but based on global interests.
Since Hashim Thaci was put in prison, the world has changed a lot.
It is almost unrecognizable.
Russia has invaded Ukraine, Israel has invaded Gaza, America has attacked Iran.
Europe is weaker, Russia more savage, America more divided.
Civil wars have divided the West more than ever.
Liberals are against Russia and Israel, conservatives are in favor.
Europe is with half of America, against the other half.
It seems like the liberal order is going bankrupt.
Democracy no longer ensures progress and ideological unity.
The decision made by the Hague Tribunal is a reflection of the deep international division.
Half of Europe and America wanted Hashim Thaci in prison as an ally of the other half.
The alleged murders, torture of civilians, and the house of leaves were not proven, because the conviction was never based on evidence.
What was the evidence needed for?
When Hashim Thaci headed to the White House to meet Trump, liberals needed no further proof.
If Hashim Thaci made one mistake in his life, this was the only mistake.
That’s why he was arrested.
However, there should be no regrets.
And who wouldn’t make this mistake?
But while it started as a revenge, the decision against Hashim changed along the way.
It’s a bit like those cases when witches who have taken you hostage increase the dose of poison by watching the movement of the clouds.
Every time Russia advanced in Ukraine, Hashim’s sentence was increased, every time Israel killed in Gaza, the sentence was doubled, every time the liberals lost elections, the accusations against Hashim Thaci were strengthened.

While he liberated his country, he was compared to two people who have invaded other countries.
No matter how much it is compared to tigers and bears, a bird remains a bird even when it eats an ant.
Therefore, it is no coincidence that The Hague has issued an international arrest warrant for the three.
Hashim would have been arrested anywhere, but in Russia and Israel the International Court has no jurisdiction.
And despite the fact that the Kosovo Special Court is not part of the International Criminal Court, the architecture of The Hague is the same.
The principle on which this legal structure is built provides for international panels of judges to convict when local judges cannot.
For this reason, the Hague mandate that arrested Hashim Thaci follows both Putin and Netanyahu, who cannot trespass in most countries in the world.
Although Trump has said several times that he does not recognize the Hague Court, Western liberals and democrats use it as their ultimate weapon.
The International Court of Justice is their strength.
Liberals hold the legal pillars of The Hague with their nails because it protects the liberal order from the enemies that threaten it.
This is why Hashim Thaci was sacrificed at the foundation of this court.
If Hashim were acquitted, the Court would be weakened.
This is the essence of this decision.
This is why the West does not listen at all to the calls for war in Kosovo.
The West has its own problems.
He wants to make examples.
The West seeks to use the Hague Tribunal to defend itself.
That’s why I was sure that Hashim Thaci would be punished.
The war horoscope was all against him.
If Donald Trump had not come to power, Hashim would be in office, if the world were at peace, Hashim would be president, if the shaky governments of Europe were not falling, Hashim Thaci would be free.
Therefore, even though he is killed, he should be at peace.
I know he would have chosen to be a martyr for Kosovo, but unfortunately he is a martyr for the liberal order that liberated Kosovo.
Like in Greek legends, he is being sacrificed by the gods who helped him become immortal.
Hashim was not punished for what he did but for what he can do.
The world didn’t need him as the president of a small country, but as a hostage of a great court.
Therefore, he must be calm.
He was not sentenced for yesterday but for tomorrow.
He was not convicted as a murderer but as a politician.
And as a politician he will be released.
