The host Rita Petro was invited to the “Top Fare” show on Top Albania Radio, where she answered the spicy questions of the moderators, Julian Hurdha and Anxhelo Shkreli.
Asked which is more difficult, writing about sex or talking about it on television, Rita said that people often confuse and equate her with the characters in her books.
“When you write, you write about yourself, you write in your solitude and you write whatever comes to mind. Then I always say that censorship starts with ‘are you going to publish it or not?’ When you speak, it’s always that ethic and you can’t equate writing, art with an interview. That is, they are two different things. Often people confuse you and equate you with your character, with the heroine of the book. And that’s how misunderstandings with me arose and when they hear me on television or when I give an interview they say ‘you must be a serious woman’,” said Petro.
When asked if a man with many partners is ‘a Casanova or a pelvis’, the poet said that she would ‘put him in the pelvis’.
As for men looking for a virgin woman, the poet said that ‘it’s standard’.
Then, Rita also shared what her late partner told her, that a man makes her a close friend.
“The partner I had and the greatest love story of my life told me that you have a fantastic thing, a man can make you a close friend, among other things. And when a man has his partner and close friend, he will never want to lose her. Even if those thrills come from someone else. Because it shows that it is a very special relationship. And I as a guy am very loyal as a close friend. Because I never betray my friend and close friend,” said Petro.
As for the question ‘why do Albanians continue to have sex with the lights off?’, the poet also linked it to the fact of mentality.
“They used to do that, those small rooms, living with other people and the mentality. Having sex with the light on, you have to be very shy, especially women. We weren’t very open, because we thought they were judging us. It could happen today too,” said Rita Petro.
