Altin Kokici, a 51-year-old man of Albanian origin, was found dead on the night between Wednesday and Thursday at a construction site in Padua, Italy, where reconstruction work was taking place on a building.
The victim, owner of a company specializing in wall construction in Sossano, in the province of Vicenza, is suspected of having fallen into the elevator shaft and died as a result of the fall.
The body was found by police patrol officers from the Padova police station, who entered the facility last night, after the alarm was raised by family members who, thanks to geolocation on their mobile phones, saw that he was not leaving the construction site area.
In fact, the person had not made any further announcements about himself since the early hours of the afternoon, and his van had remained parked not far from the building, with the cargo hold still open.
After entering the building, the officers rang the 51-year-old’s cell phone, thus reaching the elevator shaft, where they found the man with no signs of life.
In addition to police officers, 118 personnel and firefighters also intervened at the scene. Investigations to clarify the causes of the incident are still ongoing./ Mattinopadova
