New details have emerged from ballistics expertise regarding the serious incident in Baldissero d’Alba, in the province of Cuneo, where 36-year-old Gjovalin Lazri of Albanian origin lost his life.
According to preliminary results, reported by Italian media, the shooting is suspected to have been carried out from a distance of less than 14 meters. 12 shell casings were found at the scene, collected in a single area of the apartment. Investigators are analyzing the position of the casings, the trajectories of the bullets and the positions of the people at the time of the shooting. Three flashlights were also found at the scene, one of them near Lazri’s body.
According to preliminary reconstruction, Roberto Mollo, 35, the owner of the apartment, was awakened by noises outside and went out onto the first-floor balcony. From there, according to the investigation’s hypothesis, he shot at the lights of the people in the property.
One of the bullets hit Lazri in the neck, causing the fatal wound.
The
ballistics examination lasted more than five hours, while test shots and simulations were also conducted at the scene to determine the trajectories and distance of the shots.
The Asti prosecutor’s office is continuing the investigation. Mollo is under investigation for murder, while he has stated that he shot in self-defense. Investigators are expected to return to the scene at night to verify the lighting and visibility conditions in circumstances as similar as possible to the night of the incident. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 20, after several people allegedly entered the Mollo family’s property. After the shooting, the 35-year-old called the emergency number 112 himself and informed the authorities that he had shot a person.
