Ergys Agasi has reacted through his lawyer, Maksim Haxhia, regarding the data and allegations made public within the framework of SPAK’s investigations.
Haxhia has conveyed his client’s version, denying the claims related to meetings with the former director of SHISH, Vlora Hyseni, as well as the documents allegedly found in Agas’s vehicle.
In the interview given to Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha, speaking about Agas’s position, Haxhia stated: “I am stating what I talked to the client about and he told me: none of it is true. The head of the intelligence service has never been in my office. I have never met her, in the sense that they have constant meetings. What they maintain in terms of the functioning of that institution is another thing, I don’t know…, that it is a connection, that it is an asset, is it in service… I don’t know how to say that. I can only say that he challenges. He told me that he challenges anyone to say: “I have collaborated with state secrets” and the second: “Documents were found in the car I had at home.”
Regarding the claims about the documents and materials allegedly found in Agas’s vehicle, the lawyer has disputed the version made public and stated that his client is ready to face these claims.
“He challenges anyone to those conversations that they have released in the media or in public and says: “If it were that in my car, which was there, it did not move, that it was proven that it was not the car in which the kidnapping was carried out, that intelligence service materials were found”. They put into Agas’s mouth that he declared: “I had these documents and I left them in the car”. No, it is not true, I was there during the process. He disputes this. He says, and the prosecution and anyone else to confront him.”
Haxhia has also raised questions regarding the publication of some telephone communications, arguing that they, according to him, are not of interest to the investigation. The lawyer has requested that any material that is claimed to exist be included in the investigation file, so that the defense can challenge it legally.
“We demand that the prosecution distance itself, or if they are true, put them in the file, not if a report is made to the prosecution. No, put them in the file and fight face to face, that is, fight the legal battle with the evidence you have, but I repeat, I do not believe that the prosecution has brought them out, because as it is, it does not have them. … We, in the capacity of defense, have made our defense almost impossible. This variant begins repeatedly, by doing things in public, the public is infected and then we must clarify the public and then do the legal defense. For me, a strategy and tactic has been made to put Mr. Agasi before the guilt.”
Previously, the court approved three measures requested by SPAK for disclosure of secrets and support for the perpetrator of the crime, including for the former head of SHISH, who is being held under house arrest.
