SPAK opens new file against Artan Gaçi/ Olta Xhaçka’s role also under investigation, transactions and phone calls emerge, money laundering charges

A new investigation has been registered at SPAK against Artan Gaçi, the husband of Socialist Party MP and former Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka. The file, led by prosecutor Olsi Dado, is related to suspicions of “Laundering of proceeds of crime.”

As part of this investigation, SPAK is also conducting verifications regarding the role of Olta Xhaçka, while the file reports that data including banking transactions and telephone communications have been administered.

The new investigation has been launched after information was obtained during another proceeding. Previously, Gaçi was investigated by SPAK following a complaint filed by Fredi Beleri, regarding property issues in the southern coastal area. This proceeding was dismissed and the decision was upheld by the courts.

Meanwhile, new materials have led to the registration of another criminal proceeding, this time for the criminal offense of “Laundering the proceeds of crime”.

Artan Gaçi appeared today at the SPAK premises, where he was summoned to be questioned as a person under investigation. He appeared together with his defense lawyer.

According to the data made public, during his stay at SPAK, Gaçi did not give any statements on the case. He initially requested to be acquainted with the materials administered in the file and the facts for which he is being investigated.

For this reason, the defense has requested the availability of the investigative acts. Following the request, Gaçi has been removed from the SPAK premises, and is expected to be called back for questioning once he has access to the file materials.
