Who is the Albanian Valentin Ftoni? Sentenced to 25 years in prison for three murders, captured in the US

Valentin Ftoni, arrested in the United States after decades of being wanted, has been sentenced in Albania to two separate sentences, each of 25 years in prison, for three murders. His name is linked to serious criminal events that occurred in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

According to data on the court cases against him, obtained by journalist Anila Hoxha, one of the convictions is related to the murder of Tom Gaci, in 1998. The other conviction was given for the murder of the couple Gjelosh and Ardiana Markaj, committed in 2000.

In total, Ftoni has been convicted of three murders, with two sentences providing for 25 years in prison. In addition to these two cases, Valentin Ftoni has also been tried for another serious criminal event. This is the murder of Behar Beci, which occurred in 2001.

In this case, he was declared innocent, so the incident is not included in the murders for which he was convicted.

Ftoni has evaded Albanian justice for a long period, using various identities. Efforts to locate him were conducted in cooperation with US authorities, including US Marshals, the US Embassy in Tirana, and other law enforcement structures.

His arrest in the US marks an important development in the case of a person wanted for decades by Albanian justice. Ftoni had long been on the list of the 30 most wanted Albanians.
