The European Delegation in Tirana reacts, the message it has for students

The student protest in Tirana, which has been accompanied by escalation of violence and damage to public and private property, has brought the reaction of the European Union Delegation in Tirana.

Through a statement, the Delegation strongly condemns the acts of violence, calls on protesters to exercise restraint and emphasizes the importance of respecting the right to peaceful assembly and expression, calling dialogue the only way to address concerns.

“We strongly condemn the escalation of violence during the protest and the destruction of public and private property.”

We call on protesters to show restraint and avoid any acts of violence. Violence has no place in a democracy.

Freedom of assembly and expression are fundamental rights and core European values. They must be respected and exercised peacefully.

“Constructive dialogue between all parties is the only way forward to address legitimate concerns,” the post reads.
