Ardian Çapja, the businessman sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Nezir and Gentian Beqiri, has requested to leave his cell tomorrow, after his mother passed away this Sunday.
In a letter addressed to the Directorate of Prisons, Çapja requests to attend the funeral ceremony tomorrow. It is reported that the Prisons have accepted the convict’s request, and he will give his mother his last farewell.
Ardian Çapja has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the double murder of Nezir and Gentian Beqiri, father and son, an event that occurred in Elbasan in 2012. The Special Court sentenced Çapja to life imprisonment on April 19, 2023, while the decision was also upheld by the Special Appeal.
The case then went to the High Court, where the appeal filed by Ardian Çapja and the other defendants was dismissed. With this decision, the life imprisonment sentence for Çapja and Florenc Çapja remained in effect.
In the past, Çapja has survived 4 assassination attempts, the most serious of which was in 2020, when he was shot by a sniper in his apartment in Elbasan.
