A large-scale fire has engulfed the Daiasi area in Tirana, while the flames are spreading rapidly due to strong winds. Firefighters have been on the ground for hours and are fighting to neutralize the fire, while the situation appears critical.
Footage from the scene shows an alarming situation, with flames engulfing significant areas of vegetation and bushes, while thick smoke has also engulfed the capital.
A terrifying moment has been made public through a video shared online, where it appears that the flames are rapidly approaching the firefighters who were intervening to extinguish the fire. In the video, one of the firefighters can be heard addressing his colleague: “Sokol, Sokol, go, get in the car and go!”
There are no reports of problems with homes in the area affected by the flames, as the fire is located mainly in an area with dense vegetation and bushes. However, the size and speed of the fire’s spread have made intervention significantly difficult.
Numerous firefighting forces have been engaged in the operation to extinguish the flames, while two Air Force helicopters, a Cougar and a Black Hawk, have also intervened to assist them, which are operating from the air to contain the spread of the fire.
Daiasi is not the only problematic area on this axis. Two other hot spots are active in Dajti and Priska, but fortunately they are reported to be under control. Media sources indicate that in the Dajti area there are about 22 firefighting forces working on the Qafë-Molla tunnels, while air intervention continues there as well.
