A 46-year-old woman has lost her life in Italy after allegedly being raped by her 42-year-old husband of Albanian origin.
According to Italian media, the 42-year-old was detained at the port of Bari while allegedly trying to flee to Albania. The victim has been identified as Ornella Forastefano. Her body was found overnight outside the emergency room of a hospital in Trebisacce, Italy. Doctors intervened immediately to save her, but the severe wounds and multiple injuries she had suffered proved fatal.
The incident occurred at around 03:00. According to preliminary data, the woman had serious injuries to various parts of her body, which has led investigators to suspect that she was raped.
After finding the 46-year-old, the investigation focused on her partner, who had left and was not at the apartment. The 42-year-old was later located at the port of Bari, where he was suspected of being about to board a ferry bound for Albania.
The man, who was previously known to authorities for drug-related offenses, is being questioned by investigators. They are trying to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident and determine whether he is responsible for the death of the 46-year-old. According to authorities, the couple had been living together for about a year.
It is not yet clear whether the 46-year-old was taken to the hospital by her partner. The 46-year-old was left outside the emergency room entrance and was found by doctors.
The investigation is being led by the Castrovillari Prosecutor’s Office, which is examining all leads to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Ornella Forastefano managed a bar in the center of Trebisacce together with her two children.
