Denmark is expected to introduce a new immigration scheme starting January 1, 2027, which will allow employers who meet the criteria to hire foreign nationals from 16 selected countries, including Albania.
The new route will be available to Danish employers who meet certain specific requirements, including being covered by a relevant collective agreement, having been in operation for at least two years and having at least 10 full-time employees in Denmark.
Employers will also need to register with the Danish immigration authority and receive a certificate confirming that they meet the required conditions.
Albania among the countries involved
Albania is among the countries whose citizens will be eligible to be employed through the new scheme. The list also includes India, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Singapore, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The scheme could give Danish employers who meet the criteria an additional opportunity to recruit employees from abroad.
The minimum wage is set at 322,000 Danish kroner.

According to the authorities, this level is lower than the minimum wage thresholds that apply in some of the other common employment schemes in Denmark.
However, the scheme will not be open to all Danish employers. Companies must meet specified conditions and be certified by the Danish immigration authority before they can use this employment route. The new scheme is expected to come into effect on 1 January 2027.
