The government cabinet announced tonight that Prime Minister Edi Rama, upon returning from his visit to the United Nations tomorrow, will address a message to Albanians.
Like never before, the message will not come from the prime minister’s office, but from the press room of “Mother Teresa” Airport in Tirana.
It is unclear what Mr. Rama will communicate this Sunday, September 27th.
The time of his address to the nation is also unclear. His office said tonight that since his departure from New York’s JFK airport on Saturday is still unconfirmed due to bad weather, he will announce the exact time of his address tomorrow morning.
The extraordinary public appearance comes as scandals have engulfed almost all high-ranking state bodies, most recently the head of SHISH.
In parallel, for four months now, many people have been engaged in daily protests that have not stopped since May 31 and continue not only in Tirana, but also in a number of cities around the world.
