Italy will open procedures for the admission of over 165,000 foreign workers by 2027, creating new employment opportunities for Albanian citizens.
The Italian Ministry of Labor has published instructions for the implementation of the decree on migratory flows, according to which from October 23 to December 7, 2026, employers in Italy will be able to electronically prepare applications for the employment of citizens from countries outside the European Union.
In total, 165,850 entry quotas for work-related reasons have been set for next year. The largest share is occupied by seasonal workers, with 89,000 quotas, mainly in agriculture and tourism.
Meanwhile, 76,200 quotas have been set aside for non-seasonal employment, in sectors such as construction, industry, trade, transport, logistics and services. Within this category, 14,000 places have been reserved for family care and assistance workers. 650 quotas have been set for the self-employed.
Albania and Kosovo are on the list of countries whose citizens can benefit from these procedures. For non-seasonal employment, Italy has reserved 25,000 quotas for a group of countries that also includes Albania, but without defining a specific number just for Albanian citizens.
The process will take place in two phases. Initially, from October 23, employers will pre-fill the requests on the Italian Ministry of the Interior portal. Their final submission will start on January 12, 2027 for agriculture, February 9 for tourism, February 16 for non-seasonal employment and February 18 for family assistance.
Applications are made by employers in Italy and are subject to work authorization and visa procedures.
The quotas are part of Italy’s three-year program for legal immigration, which foresees 497,550 entries for work purposes during the period 2026–2028.
The figures represent the maximum number of planned entries and not employment contracts already signed. /scan.tv
