TIRANA — Prepare for a significant increase in temperatures over the coming days. Next week is expected to bring a combination of clear weather, extreme heat and what meteorologists call “tropical nights.” According to the latest forecasts, the thermometer is expected to reach values that will test our resistance to heat, especially in low-lying and coastal areas.
Forecaster Elvi Jahaj has provided a detailed overview of weather conditions, emphasizing that although we will have stability in most of the territory, heat will be the main theme this week.
“At the beginning of next week we will have stable conditions, clear weather, but cloudiness is not excluded on Tuesday and Wednesday. These will be accompanied by rainfall in the hilly and mountainous reliefs. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to reach 36/37 degrees today, as well as for the following days. As for the minimum values in the morning, they will have a minimum increase of up to 24 degrees, i.e. tropical nights. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the values will be felt up to 41 degrees. The wind will blow mainly light, about 4/5 meters per second,” — explained Mr. Jahaj.
Weather Overview for the Week
To make the synoptic situation clearer, here’s how the weather will look in the coming days:
Tuesday and Wednesday (Peak Heat): These two days will record the highest values. Due to humidity in the air and high solar radiation, actual temperatures will increase, causing the heat to be felt up to 41 degrees Celsius on the human body. This requires increased care, especially for children and the elderly.
Tropical Nights: Citizens will find it difficult to find coolness even at night. Minimum values are not expected to drop below 24 degrees, creating the conditions of “tropical nights” where the heat remains present even without the presence of the sun.
Localized Rainfall in the Highlands: While the main cities and coastline will be “scorched” by the sun, the deep mountainous and hilly areas will experience a slightly different reality. During the afternoon of Tuesday and Wednesday, the passing clouds may develop into brief rain showers.
Wind: It will be light and will not significantly affect the air’s freshness. Wind parameters are expected to be around 4 to 5 meters per second, blowing mainly from directions favorable for maintaining warm air masses over our country.
Tips for Coping with the Heat
Considering the high temperatures expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, health experts always recommend:
Avoid unnecessary movement and direct exposure to the sun between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Continuous consumption of water (at least 2 liters per day) to avoid dehydration.
Using lightweight clothing, light colors and cotton materials.
Maintaining a constant and cool temperature indoors during tropical nights.
