The Swiss Ambassador to Albania, Ruth Huber, commented this Monday from Korça on the protests that have been taking place in Tirana for 23 days.
Asked about the future of the protest and whether she had a message for the Albanian government, Huber was reserved, emphasizing that it is a political issue that is difficult for a foreign embassy to speak about.
She also emphasized that people’s participation in the protest is an important element for any system.
“This is a very political question and it is difficult to answer as a foreign embassy. Of course, through our development program we also strengthen democracy, with our support to the national parliament, to local parliaments. We have a long-term support for civil society, so democratic instruments and people’s participation are an important element of any system, just like in our system in Switzerland,” she said.
