An Iranian official has warned that the country could move toward enriching uranium to weapons-grade levels if the United States launches further attacks against it.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, said that one option under consideration is enriching uranium to 90%. “One of Iran’s options in the event of another attack could be enrichment up to 90%. We will consider it in parliament,” Rezaei stated.

According to international standards, nuclear power plants operate using uranium enriched to 3–5%, while enrichment levels around 90% are considered suitable for military use.

Natural uranium contains different isotopes, but only U-235 is used in nuclear chain reactions. The enrichment process increases the concentration of this isotope.

The statements come at a time of heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, while U.S. President Donald Trump has defended military actions against Iran, arguing that the country must not obtain nuclear weapons.

According to reports from American media, the Trump administration is considering the possibility of new strikes against Iran to strengthen its position in negotiations, although similar threats have been made before without a final decision being reached.
