After protesters remove flag, Israeli ambassador explodes after incident at Tirana protest

The Israeli Ambassador to Tirana, Galit Peleg, has reacted after the desecration of the Israeli flag during the protest held on Saturday evening in the capital, describing the event as an act that “shames the Albanian people and their proud heritage.”

In a post on the social network X, Peleg said that the act violates the dignity of the Albanian people and their proud heritage.

“Last night in Tirana, protesters removed the Israeli flag and tore it down amid cheers from the crowd gathered at the scene. As an ambassador of a democratic state, I believe in the right of the Albanian people to exercise their civil right to protest. However, such an act not only does not serve the cause of public protest, but also violates the dignity of the Albanian people and their proud heritage. I thank @HoxhaFer for the immediate and clear condemnation of this act,” she wrote.

The reaction comes a few hours after the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs condemned the removal and desecration of the flag of the Israeli Embassy in Tirana, stating that such acts do not represent Albania and the Albanian people.
