Albania and Indonesia towards an agreement on the employment of immigrants in tourism!

After the Philippines, the Albanian government will sign an agreement with the Indonesian government to bring migrant workers from this country to Albania. The news was announced by the Indonesian government.

“Indonesia is moving closer to opening new job opportunities in Europe through a planned memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Albania on the employment of Indonesian migrant workers in the Albanian hospitality industry,” the Indonesian government’s Ministry of Migrant Workers Protection announced.

The initiative was discussed by Deputy Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Christina Aryani, during her meeting with the Charge d’Affaires of Albania in Indonesia, Nikson Ballço, in Jakarta on Monday, June 15, 2026, according to a press release from the ministry.

Aryani explained that the agreement will serve as a government-to-government framework, after which employment will continue through a private-to-private scheme involving agencies in Albania and Indonesian migrant worker employment companies.

“The Memorandum of Understanding will become the basis of cooperation between the Ministry of Protection of Migrant Workers and the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation of Albania,” she said, as quoted by Antara.

The cooperation is expected to create legal, structured and mutually beneficial opportunities for Indonesian workers. Aryani noted that Albania is emerging as a tourist destination in Europe, requiring additional workforce to support the growth of its hospitality sector.

“This is an attractive opportunity for Indonesian migrant workers who have experience and competence in this sector,” she added. Preparations for the Memorandum of Understanding are in line with the upcoming visit of Delina Ibrahimaj, Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation of Albania to Indonesia at the end of July 2026.

Aryani expressed hope that the agreement will serve as a gateway to new labor markets, while expanding opportunities for Indonesian workers abroad. “We will ensure that the entire process follows established mechanisms, prioritizing the protection of Indonesian migrant workers,” she concluded.

This development highlights Indonesia’s efforts to expand opportunities for migrant workers in Europe, strengthen bilateral cooperation with Albania, and increase protections through structured agreements in the hospitality sector./Kapitali.al
