The Directorate of Prisons has denied the video published by journalist Artan Hoxha, which claimed that it was about a luxuriously furnished cell in Peqin Prison, with a television, cooking space, quality furniture and decorative works that resemble more an apartment than a prison.
The prisons state that, after the findings, no such environment existed and does not exist in Peqin Prison.
The announcement also emphasizes that the media, journalists and any person who has additional information on the case should cooperate with the competent authorities.

Regarding the material published in the media and social networks, where it is claimed that a luxurious environment presented in the video is located in the Peqin Penitentiary Institution and is used by a convict, we clarify to the public opinion that, after verifications carried out, it turns out that from April 30, 2026 onwards, no such environment has existed and does not exist in the Peqin Penitentiary Institution.
The General Directorate of Prisons remains open to any institutional verification and invites the media, journalists and any person who has additional information on the case to cooperate with the competent authorities to fully clarify the facts.
Informing the public on issues of high interest must be based on verified data and the accurate presentation of the circumstances of each case.
