As reported by newsbomb.al, the injured are Mustafa Koçi, 53 years old, who according to hospital reports has a minor injury to his hand (burns), and Ervis Bregu, around 38 years old, in serious condition.
The serious incident occurred this Wednesday morning, when the two workers were making repairs to an old house in the village of Grabovë, when the explosion occurred.
It is reported that the explosive material is suspected to date back to World War II. It is also reported that the owner of the house where the workers were making repairs is Koço Zyba, 68 years old.
“Around 1:00 PM, citizens EB, 38 years old, and MK, 53 years old, both residents of Përmet, were sent for medical assistance to the Përmet Hospital.
From the first investigative actions, it is suspected that they were accidentally damaged by the explosion of an explosive material left over from previous periods (suspected to be an old bomb), while carrying out work on the wall of an old house in the village of Grabovë, Përmet.
“The injured have been transported for specialized treatment to the Gjirokastra Regional Hospital and are under the care of doctors,” the police announced today.
It is also reported that local authorities are continuing their work to fully investigate the case.
