Former Navy Commander Artur Meçollari has come to the defense of former KLA fighter Dritan Goxhaj, who was “attacked” this Monday by Prime Minister Edi Rama, after the latter publicly labeled him as a spokesman for Iranian interests.
Through a reaction on social media, Meçollari rejected Rama’s accusations against Goxhaj, emphasizing that he fought with weapons for Kosovo together with his father, while accusing the prime minister of initiatives that, according to him, have been to the detriment of Kosovo.
“Edi Rama. You can’t dirty Dritan Goxhaj. He fought with weapons for Kosovo, together with his father. While you have made the Open Balkans and a draft for the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities. Both against Kosovo. These are proven,” writes Meçollari, emphasizing that he does not share the same positions as Goxhaj on the war in Iran, but argues that his statements are not political, but military-character analyses.
Meçollari’s full reaction:
Edi Rama. You can’t make Dritan Goxhaj dirty. He fought with weapons for Kosovo, together with his father. While you made the Open Balkans and a draft for the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities. Both against Kosovo. These are proven. I’m not talking about changing the borders of Kosovo. I don’t agree with Dritan about the war in Iran, but these are not political positions, but analyses of a military nature. You are manipulating Dritan Goxhaj’s military analyses to make him dirty and to avoid resignation. Your resignation is non-negotiable.
