“Armand Shakaj asked me to turn off the lights. He told me he would take out a refrigerator. I have no knowledge of the fate of Eglant Koci. I know him because I work as a waiter at Artmandi’s bar.” This is how Enea Zyferin, who was sentenced to prison on charges of supporting the perpetrator of the crime, began his testimony in the Tirana court.
Suspect Zyferi further claimed that he saw Koci when he entered Shakaj’s workplace, but has no further information about his fate. During his testimony in court, Zyferi also stated that Shakaj asked him to take the car to the car wash to wash it and he sent it somewhere at the end of the new boulevard.
Despite denying knowledge of the serious incident, where Eglant Koci was held hostage and suspected of being murdered, Zuyferi was left in prison.
From the investigations so far, it is suspected that Shakaj asked Koci to go meet him at a place near the “Ismail Qemali” school, opposite the State Police headquarters. There, it is suspected that he killed her and, in order to remove the body, asked the waiter to turn off the lights, claiming that he would bring out a refrigerator.
Despite the power being cut off, cameras focused on him placing Koci’s body in the car and allegedly disappearing it in a deep area of Librazhd.
Meanwhile, he attempted to hide every trace, having taken his friend’s motorbike to the 5th of May area, apparently to distract the police, while he cleaned the work environment and ordered the waiter to wash the car.
Police suspect that Englant Koci was murdered after traces of blood were found both in the room where he was held hostage and in the car. Shakaj is now wanted for the hostage-taking and murder of his 34-year-old friend. The motive for the crime is suspected to be a dispute over cryptocurrency wallets.
