Vizion Plus has obtained photos inside the building where 43-year-old Bracellar, a wanted man and sentenced to 10 years in prison for the production and sale of narcotics, was hiding. According to preliminary information, police forces had located his location and organized an operation to arrest him.

After surrounding the building, the officers called on Braçellari to surrender, but he reacted by opening fire on the blue uniforms. As a result of the shooting, officer Enea Mekolli was fatally shot, while his colleague Edison Adri was seriously injured. Sources close to the investigation confirm that the bullet penetrated his jaw, causing serious injuries. He was initially transported to the Korça hospital and then by helicopter to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he is under intensive medical care.

During the police response, the perpetrator was injured and handcuffed. He initially received medical attention in Korça and was then transferred to Tirana under tight security measures.

Investigations have revealed that Braçellari, a former professional soldier and firearms expert, was considered a person of high social danger. In 2017, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking, a decision that was upheld by the Court of Appeal and then by the Supreme Court in January 2024.

However, it remains unclear how the 43-year-old was at large despite the final verdict. His name is also involved in other criminal proceedings. In 2024, he was charged with intentional minor injury, while earlier this year the court ordered him to be notified of a court case, as he was not found at his declared address.

The investigative group is continuing its actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, while the murder of the “Eagles” officer is considered one of the most serious incidents to have hit the State Police.
