Session at the Special Court Against Corruption! Haxhiu brutally killed his cousin Fridman Xhaferri, the victim’s brother testifies: Laert’s father told me that his son has nothing to do with the crime.
The trial against Laert Haxhiu, who was not present at this session and has agreed to be represented by his two defense lawyers, Detar Hysi and Dritan Jahaj, began this Tuesday at the Special Court Against Corruption. It is reported that at the start of this trial, the Court announced that it is in the phase of administration and questioning of witnesses, where today Xhuljano Xhaferraj, who is the brother of Fridman Xhaferraj, who was killed in 2021, gave his testimony.
Xhaferraj was escorted to the GJKKO by the prison police, handcuffed, as he is under the security measure of “prison arrest” for theft. During his testimony, Xhuljano Xhaferraj, who is also a cousin of Laert Haxhiu, testified that when his brother was killed, he was in prison. “When they killed my brother, I was in prison. When I was released, he had been killed for three days. They had identified the victim, but they were not sure. They questioned me, verified that I was in prison and after a few hours I learned that it was my brother,” he stated. The young man said that about 20 days before the execution, he communicated with Fridman, who had been in Elbasan with Lulëzim Spahina and together they had planned to travel to Greece.
“The other brother was in Greece. Fridman was with Lulëzim Spahina in Elbasan, he was going to Greece with Lulëzim. That’s what they told me,” he is reported to have said. Regarding the murder, Xhuljano said that he had communicated with Laert Haxhiu’s father, Qamili, who told him that his son had nothing to do with Fridman’s murder.
“I don’t know who killed Fridman. Laert’s father, Qamili, told me that his son had no hand in it and had nothing to do with the incident. We met about a month after the murder, as our lands are close together. I asked him what the story was about, that Laert had ordered the murder, but he told me that his son had nothing to do with it. I was not involved at all. When I spoke to my brother, he told me to look after my own problems and my family,” he said.
