An Albanian immigrant who has been living in Germany for years has attracted attention during the protest held today, where he called for the removal of the current political class, demanding that the resignation begin with the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.
In his speech to the protesters, he said that his participation in the rally was a civic and moral obligation to himself, his family and thousands of Albanians living abroad, but who continue to worry about the future of Albania. The immigrant said that he had also come on behalf of his 85-year-old mother, who could not be present at the protest due to her age.
“I am from Bulqiza and have been living in Germany for many years. I came here to protest for myself, for my family and for all those who want a better Albania. I call on Berisha to resign. If you really want change and if this protest is in the interest of the citizens, then you should leave first. Only in this way can you ask others to take responsibility,” he said.
He did not spare an appeal to the diplomatic representatives of the European Union countries in Albania, inviting them to support the civic causes and listen to the voices of the protesters. According to him, the country needs a new policy, with more integrity, transparency and responsibility towards the citizens.
The immigrant’s statement was received with interest by those present, as his message focused on the need for self-reflection and change in political leadership, as a necessary step for improving the situation in the country.
