Ernis Xhumari, 43 years old, from the Lushnja Carboniferous Plant, was a victim.
According to reports, shortly before the accident, the 43-year-old went to the Lushnja Police Station, slashing his tires and using offensive language. Immediately after these maneuvers, the Lushnja Police prepared a pursuit.
In an attempt to escape the police forces, the 43-year-old man drove towards Karbunara at high speed. Due to the high speed, he was unable to avoid the roundabout, crashing into it, and the car then burst into flames. Although he was given first aid, the 43-year-old could not survive.
These same sources emphasize that the 43-year-old, about two months ago, had his driving license revoked after being caught drunk, where he was subsequently prosecuted. 43-year-old Ernis Xhumari is the brother of Deputy Minister of the Environment, Elda Xhumari.

At around 01:45, on 02.06.2026, employees of the Lushnja Police Station’s operations room, through security cameras, observed a “Mercedes-Benz” vehicle in front of the Police Station, performing erratic maneuvers, and then the driver of the vehicle got out of the vehicle screaming in front of the Police Station, an action he repeated several times.
Under these conditions, the operations room notified the General Patrol that was on duty in the city, to approach the Police Station, in order to verify the driver of the vehicle and the reason for his behavior.
The driver of the vehicle, as soon as he saw the General Patrol coming towards the Commissariat, drove away at high speed and after a few minutes it is suspected that due to the high speed and the driver’s loss of control over the direction of the vehicle, the vehicle crashed into the side curbs of the road, at the place called “Plasmas Roundabout” and overturned. As a result, the driver of the vehicle, citizen E. Xh., 43 years old, resident of Tirana, lost his life.
The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, is working to fully clarify the circumstances and cause of the accident.
