The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has reacted to the incident that occurred the day before in Zvërnec, where a physical clash was recorded between a group of protesters and employees of a private security company contracted by the entity carrying out works in the area.

In an official statement, the ministry expressed regret for the event and stressed that Albanian authorities have immediately taken the necessary legal action.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs expresses its regret for the situation recorded yesterday in Zvërnec, where a physical clash occurred between a group of protesters and employees of a private security company contracted by the company carrying out works in the area.

The State Police has identified and arrested the security company employee responsible for the violence against a protester with Albanian and Greek citizenship, while two other employees have been criminally prosecuted. At the same time, a disciplinary investigation has been launched to verify the circumstances of the incident and the relevant institutional responsibilities.

The protection and promotion of human rights remain fundamental values ​​of democracy and the rule of law in Albania.

Regarding this issue, the authorities of both countries, Albania and Greece, have been in constant contact, at various levels.

Albania remains fully committed to further strengthening relations with Greece, based on mutual respect, open dialogue and shared European values.
