The next session of the trial on the merits against the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, and his ex-wife, Monika Kyemadhi, has begun.
Even in today’s session, Meta has requested the court to broadcast the trial live.
As it has done before, the court has rejected his request and today’s hearing will be held behind closed doors, without the presence of cameras.
It seems that the former president of Albania is experiencing a busy period after losing his father a few days ago, who passed away at the age of 83.
Now, the former leader of the Freedom Party hoped that his trial would be broadcast live, but even this request was not realized, creating a stressful period for him.
The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has requested in today’s court session against him, his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi and others, that whoever signed for illegal financing on behalf of the former LSI in the US, should be held accountable.
Meta has also exonerated his ex-wife, emphasizing in the courtroom that Monika Kryemadhi has no responsibility for the CEZ-DIA file, claiming that she has no connection.
“I am here to take responsibility for each of my individual actions. I am neither for taking nor for giving. I take responsibility for mine, Mrs. Kryemadhi does not have to take responsibility for CEZ-DIA”, said Ilir Meta, Top Channel reports.
During his testimony, Meta stated that the trial against him is being conducted on the basis of lies and concealment of evidence by the Special Prosecution Office, accusing the investigation leaders of hiding evidence and facts to aggravate his criminal charges.
“I think we should be equal before the law. I am very outraged, honorable judges, prosecutors, participants, because in addition to the many lies repeated in the preliminary hearings, I heard something shocking.”
The prosecutor said that after the investigation with McKeon, it turned out that there was only one invoice for 15 thousand USD. I am outraged, because when I was asked about this issue, I made it clear that I only had one payment of 15 thousand USD, by decision of the presidium, with the bank.
In September, they received a letter-order for McKeon, alleging that meetings had taken place in the US and illegal payments had been made. I was kidnapped on October 21 at 12:08 by unknown persons. At 14:06, I was informed of the SPAK prosecutors’ order. After I was arrested, on November 15, another response came from the US, clarifying.
The gentlemen not only did not inform me, but in January they asked me again about McKeon Group. After the final answer came in November, they asked me again in January. FARA is a portal, where thousands of companies publish for transparency, but it is neither a court nor a prosecutor. There is no signature of Ilir Meta in the agreement with GSIS. The agreement is between LSI and GSIS.
