The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a communication with citizens on social networks, declared that he supports the youth protest, while accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of the way in which, according to him, former KLA fighters are being treated. During the conversation, Berisha also touched on the case of declaring a protester “non grata” because of a photo with former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, claiming that Rama also had contacts with her.
“My call is for every democrat, for every Albanian, wherever they are, in Albania or in the diaspora, to support the protest of young Albanians as the most beautiful hope for Albanians, Albania and the future of the country. Rama returned to his genes. Every day and every night he passes from the digital world to the dark world of the Albanian secret police.
“Declaring a lady non grata just because she had a photo with Ahmadinejad. Let me tell you something. I was prime minister when the partner services informed me that Edi Rama had gone to Tehran and met with Ahmadinejad, while Erion Veliaj had made that trip several times. From the verifications of the competent bodies it resulted that, at least on one occasion, Rama had participated in a meeting of the Socialist International, held in Tehran. Tahir Sinani, as you know, commanded several brigades on the Pashtrik front, one of the hottest fronts of the war in Kosovo. Even those documents were issued by Edi Rama and they were released only on his order from the State Archives. This is a treacherous state, a state that uses Vučić’s standard against freedom fighters”, Berisha said.
During the communication, Berisha also answered a question regarding a possible visit to the United States of America, stating that he will not wait to become prime minister to travel to the US.
Question: “When will you go to the United States of America, for Rama’s sake?”
Sali Berisha: “Thank you. I’m not saying that I will go only after we win the elections, as prime minister. I will go even before, of course at the appropriate moment. I am in the opposition and I can go to participate in a conference.”
